April 24, grades two-four attended Farm Safety Day in Cheyenne Wells, which had activities that promoted safety on the farm and other farm areas.

April 26, the high school track team competed at the Rocky Ford Meet. Also, on Friday the elementary students participated in an enrichment activity centered around the solar system; the students created mobiles.

April 27, the Plainview High School students, faculty, and staff celebrated at the Junior-Senior Prom, featuring an automotive theme. The prom theme is usually geared to the interests of the senior class. Elijah Harkness, this year’s senior, who has always had an interest all things automotive, was crowned king. The juniors, their sponsor Susan Greenfield, community members, master decorator Susan Specht, and other students did a wonderful job decorating. The meal (brisket, green beans, and cheesy potatoes, with a salad and cherry cheesecake for dessert) was prepared by the caterer, Dennill Splitter.

April 29, the high school track team competed in the Cheyenne Wells Invitational Meet. Destiny Cornelius placed fifth in the hurdles; Elijah Harkness placed fifth in the high jump.

Since the beginning of March, the junior high and juniors/senior classes have been participating in the Colorado version of the SIFMA Stock Market Game. They have been learning stock related terms and are participating in a three-month real world trial with fake money. They started with $100,000 in cash to invest and can purchase stocks, bonds, or mutual funds from there that are on the New York Stock Exchange or the NASDAQ. The stocks use real world analytics and update nightly. Currently Destiny Cornelius is our school leader and is 39th in the state out of 620 teams. The junior high team with the lead currently is Gael/Jaxson in 193rd out the 620 same teams.

A special thanks goes to the following people who helped with pictures (especially for prom and Farm Safety Day): Tinna Cornelius, Jennifer Wilson, Alex Rodriguez-Specht (snagged from FB), Tricia Spencer, and Susan Greenfield. I can’t be everywhere to take pictures, so I appreciate the help.
