Child Care Annual Training Day Set
The Northeast Colorado Child Care Resource and Referral annual Summer Day of Training will be in Limon June 10. The training opportunity is open to anyone in Colorado who wants to learn useful skills in working with children. This includes family child care providers, preschool teachers, and center/preschool directors and children’s librarians.
The first workshop of the day is “Cavity Free Kids” by Kim Wolff of Qualistar Colorado. Cavity Free Kids is an oral health professional development program for all early care and education teachers that includes a rich collection of lessons, activities, stories, songs and other resources that actively engage young children in fun-filled, play-based learning and help parents and teachers practice good oral health habits.
The next workshop is “Make It, Take It, Now Let’s Relate It!” by Darlene Blackford. It is a very hands-on “make it and take it” workshop that provides patterns and ideas for making crafts and props and then shows how they can be related to activities and events. The last workshop of the day is also by Blackford, “Put the Oxygen Mask on Yourself First!” which helps early care and education providers learn self-care.
This day of training provides seven hours of continuing education for providers and is $25.00. Fee includes lunch and door prizes. Licensed program staff, (family child care providers, center staff, preschool staff) from Cheyenne, Kiowa and Lincoln County are free because of scholarships from the Cheyenne, Kiowa and Lincoln County Early Childhood Council. This training is sponsored by the Lincoln County Department of Human Services and Colorado Department of Human Services.
