Hope everyone had a safe and fun 4th of July. Normally we are deep into harvest on the 4th, but the rains have brought the harvest to a standstill. The moisture is great, but the farmers would rather it held off until harvest was over.

Recently, Jim and MaryAnn Richardson traveled to Oklahoma to visit Jim's brother Bob and wife Betty; grandson Josh Richardson and family, where they met their new great-granddaughter for the first time; son David and wife Linda and MaryAnn's brother, Dr. John Christiansen and wife Kay.

On the 4th, Jim and MaryAnn and Margaret Richardson traveled to Elkhart, KS to visit with Randy Richardson and help him celebrate his birthday. Happy Birthday Randy!! On their way home, they stopped in Holly and Estella Christiansen came home with them for a visit with family and friends in the area.

Cora Coffman went to Trinidad to spend the weekend with her son Cecil and wife Lana.

Guests of Denis and Theresa Weber over the July 4th weekend were:

Roger, Linda, Ryan, Nicole, and Courtney Cochran; Quinton Weber and friend, Madi Craig; Ken Thompson of Denver and Jerry Weber. On Saturday evening, Denis and Theresa; Roger, Linda, Ryan and Nicole Cochran; Bill and Charlotte Woelk; and Merle and Carol Shalberg all went to The Mission for supper. They saw many Kiowa County people there and enjoyed visiting with them.

Last week, Susan Greenfield and Cora Coffman traveled to Lamar to watch the baseball game between Holly and Lamar. On Wednesday evening, Susan and Ruth Fees traveled to Holly to watch Eads and Holly play baseball. Susan's dad, Norm, came Thursday to help with some household repairs and to help Susan celebrate her birthday on Friday. Happy Birthday Susan!!

Alex Schmidt, Benje Davis and Kyle Scott, played baseball with the Holly Babe Ruth team this summer. They had a good season and it finished last Wednesday against the Eads Eagles, which they defeated both games. We saw some really good ball games over the summer.

The Southeast Colorado Plains baseball team (10 and under) will be traveling to Yuma, CO this Thursday to participate in the State Tournament. Joey Specht and Mary Kathryn Votruba play on this team.

Good Luck at State!

Dick, Breeanna, Kyle and I traveled to Garden City on Saturday to do some shopping and eat out.

Larry and Judy Tuttle went to Sharon Springs, KS on Sunday to visit with Larry's mom, Bernice Tuttle.

Chris and Kami Janes and daughters of Rocky Ford, CO spent the July 4th weekend with her mom and dad, Linda and Monte Stum.

Ron, Lori and Austin Healy traveled to Grand Junction, Michigan, where Ron's side of the family held a Graduation party for Austin and his cousin Emilee. Then on to Saint Charles, Michigan to Lori's family for another Graduation party honoring Austin on his recent graduation from Plainview School. They returned home this past Sunday.

Please keep Steve Scott, son of the late Skeeter and Dixie Scott, former Towner residents in your prayers. Steve has had serious complications from a blood clot in his leg. He is still in ICU in the hospital in Farmington, NM, but he is making some slow but positive headway as of today. We hope you continue to improve Steve!

Have a great week!
