Congratulations to Mikayla Schmidt on graduating from FHSU on May 13th. Mikayla is living in the area and is working at the TBK Bank in Tribune, KS.
Weekend before last, Connie Weber was down to visit with her parents, Denis and Theresa Weber. All of them attended the graduation at Plainview School on Sunday and the parties that were held after graduation.
Kelvin, Amy and Mikayla Schmidt traveled to Denver for the state baseball championship game on Saturday. Holly played Nucla and lost 8 to 4. Alex Schmidt, Benje Davis and Josh Blodgett, (Plainview students) play with the Holly team. Congratulations on a great season.
The State Track meets were held this past weekend in Denver. Lydia Splitter, (Plainview student) competed in the high jump and tied for 8th place. Congratulations Lydie on a successful season.
Eugene and Judy Splitter traveled to Sterling, KS this past weekend to attend the High School graduation of the foster daughter of their son Mark and Ruth Splitter. Congratulations!
Last Tuesday, Merle and Carol Shalberg had lots of extra hands to help work cattle. Steve Shalberg and sons Dylan and Dawsen; Greg Shalberg and sons Kase and Kyler; Brock Shalberg and daughter Livia and Lori Shalberg all enjoyed helping work the cattle and the delicious meal Carol fixed for everyone. Tuesday evening, Carol went to Cheyenne Wells to watch Kase play summer ball with the minor’s team.
Week before last, Cheri Hopkins went to Greeley to visit with Jesse and Becky Quinby on Thursday and Friday. Friday evening, she had dinner at the home of John and Pam Kaufman in Loveland. John was Superintendent
at Plainview a couple years back. Tom and Megan Pape joined them for
dinner and lots of good visiting. Tom is a former teacher at Plainview.
All of them said to tell everyone here hello! HELLO!! On Saturday, Cheri attended her nephew's wedding in Denver and stayed with her brother and wife Saturday night.
Lynn Scherler and son Brady and his friend Evan visited Lynn's parents, Burl and Cathy Scherler on Sunday and attended the Gun Shoot in Cheyenne Wells.
On May 8th, the Kindergarten through Fifth grade toured the inside of John Martin Dam. They had a picnic at the park and did some bird watching in the afternoon. On Tuesday, the Kinders through 5th grade had a Science Experiment day and performed for their parents. Everyone had a great time. This past Wednesday, the Kinders through 5th grade went to Pueblo to the Buell Children's Museum. After a sack lunch, they went to the zoo. McDonald's was a hit at supper time before heading home.
The kids and sponsors would like to give a big thank you to Vincent Koeller for driving the bus and to Misty Harkness for going as an extra sponsor and to John McClave for taking pictures.
Last Thursday was the Elementary Awards and Community BBQ. A huge thank you to Dennill and Lori and the Student Council for setting up and cooking.
This past Saturday, Susan Greenfield helped the Kern and Brase families move Cora Coffman to her new home in Cheyenne Wells. Marvin, Vincent and Ryan Koeller also helped load the heavy items. Cora, you will be greatly missed in our communities, but we wish you all the best. I know those great grandkids will love having you closer all the time.
