Fire Danger Thursday, Rain Friday
By Chris Sorensen
Spring in Colorado is often marked by rapidly changing weather, and the coming days are a prime example.
Upper 60s are expected Wednesday afternoon, along with south winds gusting to 30 miles-per-hour. Overnight, look for a low in the low 40s, and continuing strong wind gusts.
Thursday will be mostly sunny, with a high around 80. South wind will strengthen with an approaching spring storm, gusting as high as 35 mph. A fire weather watch will be in effect from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thunderstorms become an increasing possibility overnight as the low returns to the 40s.
Wind gusts to 40 mph are expected Friday, with widespread rain bringing up to half an inch of moisture to help with drought conditions. Look for much cooler temperatures as the high barely moves above Thursday night’s low, and further falls into the 20s Friday night.
For the weekend, temperatures will return to the 60s. Rain and snow may return Sunday.
