Kit Carson Lutheran Church Presents Martin Luther’s Baker
It is time for Reformation Celebrations. One of these services will be at Kit Carson Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church on South Main Street in Kit Carson Sunday, October 22, during the worship service at 11:00 a.m. Rev. George Hesse of Greeley will portray Martin Luther’s Baker in the setting 500 years ago.
This month, for many, is the height of celebrating the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. Because Martin Luther is so prominent in the historical events which started it all, “Martin Luther” will often be right in the middle of those celebrations, as has been the case throughout the world during the many precious months. This has taken place through a number of means, including articles, books, seminars, conferences, courses, documentaries, worship services, movies, carnivals, and plays.
Unlike many such dramatic portrayals, though, this one has an interesting twist: It is from the perspective of Martin Luther’s Baker. Through the eyes of a fictional shopkeeper, we can learn some about Martin Luther, his historical and cultural setting, and the effects of the Reformation, including those which have reached through the centuries to us in America.
The actor in “Martin Luther’s Baker” is Pastor George Hesse - husband, father, grandfather, teacher, principal, story-teller, artist, baker, and (in his words) “lots of other fun and interesting stuff.” His costumed presentation, with props as well, is appropriate for all ages, and everyone is welcome to join in this enjoyable experience. Then after the play, all are welcome to stay for potluck lunch.

Reformation blessings to all, and we hope to see you October 22, in Kit Carson Trinity for this encouraging and educational opportunity.
