Obituary - George W. Miller

(October 19, 1922 - September 10, 2017)

George Woodward Miller was born October 19, 1922 in Nemacolin, Pennsylvania, to Ramoth George and Edna Jane (Hague) Miller. He passed away on September 10, 2017, at the age of 94, at the Weisbrod Memorial County Hospital in Eads, Colorado.

November 9, 1946, he married Helen L. (Vernie) Bass in Russell, Kentucky. They lived in Rocky River, Ohio until moving to Indian Lake Estates, Florida, in 1990. For the past four years, they have lived in Haswell, Colorado with their son Greg and his wife Nancy.

George is a military veteran, having served in the United States Army in the Signal Corp. during World War II. He attended Ohio State University and then transferred to Case Institute of Technology, where he received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. He worked for Ohio Edison Company, TRW and Cummins Diesel. While at TRW, he developed components used in the Mercury and Gemini space program. For 20 years of his retirement, he was a board of director for the Peace River Electric Cooperative in Florida. He served as President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. He also served on the Seminole Electric Cooperative board of directors.

George was an avid golf player and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 71 years, Vernie; his son Greg (Nancy); six grandchildren: Brandy, Steven, April, Rachael, David, Zachary; and six great grandchildren: Jordynn, Nash, Avery, Deklynn, Bryson, Sadie; as well as nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Haswell Senior Center in Colorado or the Indian Lake United Methodist Church in Florida.
