15 Years Ago - January 9, 2009

  • Stop & Shop will be changing its name and ownership to Crow’s Stop & Shop LLC. Pam and Gary will be retiring and selling the store to their son, Keith, and daughter-in-law, Jennifer.
  • Kit Carson Clips- Marilyn White: There was a good time had New Years Eve at Wild Horse School with nine tables of pitch players from 9 to 94 years.

25 Years Ago - January 8, 1999

  • The start of railroad operations have been delayed due to difficulties in working with the State Attorney General’s office.

40 Years Ago - January 13, 1984

  • Merle Hockett, better known as Maxine, retired as Eads Postmaster after being Postmaster the last nine years. Maxine began her career with the Postal Service in 1948.
  • It was announced that Weisbrod Memorial Hospital will receive an Emergency Communication System.

50 Years Ago - January 11, 1974

  • Kiowa County officials issued policies in effort to conserve energy. One of those being set thermostat for office building to 68 and employees to wear (more) warmer clothing to function properly in the office.
  • Twelve antelope were killed when hit by a train east of Sugar City.
