Plane Crash Causes Power Outage in Lincoln County

A small plane that was making an approach to the Lincoln County Airport clipped a transmission line near Limon, resulting in a power outage affecting portions of eastern Colorado.

According to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, the plane was making its approach shortly before 8:00 p.m. Thursday when the power line was severed. The pilot attempted to land the plane at the Limon airport, but crash-landed nearby.

The pilot escaped with minor injuries, and was found walking around the area when emergency crews arrived.

According to the Mountain View Electric Association outage map, service was fulling restored throughout the area Friday morning.
