Town of Eads Board of Trustees Meeting Minutes – January 9, 2018
The Regular Meeting of the Town of Eads Board of Trustees was called to order by Mayor Shields, Tuesday January 9, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. in the City Hall. Robin Fox, Town Clerk, took roll call:
Mayor – Joe D. Shields- present
Trustees – Present – Dennis Pearson, Kathy McCracken, Terry Riley, Lisa Trigilio, and Priscilla Waggoner
Absent – Justin McLoud
Town Clerk- Robin Fox –Absent
Assistant Clerk- Shealynn McCracken-Present
Director of Public Works- Van Brown- Present
Audiences/Public Comment Period –
Minutes- Kathy McCracken moved to approve the minutes. Lisa Trigilio seconded, motion passed unanimously.
Approval of Bills – The finance committee reviewed the bills prior to the meeting. Terry Riley moved to approve payment of the bills in the packet, as amended and presented at the meeting. Dennis Pearson seconded, the motion passed unanimously.
Old Business:
Sylvia Shields- An ordinance was presented to the board.
New Business:
Building Permit- 3 building permits were presented to the board. Priscilla Waggoner moved to approve the building permit on 12th street, Terry Riley seconded, motion passed unanimously. Terry Riley moved to approve the building permit on France Street, Kathy McCracken seconded, motion passed unanimously. The board decided to table the building permit on Slater Street until a variance is written up.
Fire Department- The board discussed the fire district meeting they had with the commissioners. Dennis Pearson moved to approve to pay the 1st quarter, or 1 month if allowed, of fire department insurance. Priscilla Waggoner seconded, the motion passed unanimously. Kathy McCracken moved to donate $508 to the Kiowa County Fire Protection District. Priscilla Waggoner seconded, motion passed 4 to 1. Priscilla Waggoner moved to give the Kiowa County Fire Protection District a loan of $5,000 to be repaid on January 1, 2019. Kathy McCracken seconded, motion passed unanimously.
Bring-Up Items:
Animal Permits- Lisa Trigilio moved to approve the animal permit. Priscilla Waggoner seconded, motion passed unanimously.
Clothing Allowance- Director of Public Works asked the board if he could cancel the UniFirst contract. Also, asked the board if he could address a dress code and reimbursement policy for his employees to follow. The board decided to let Van proceed with the request.
Cleaning Up the Town- The board brought up that they would like to see the ordinances be enforced to clean up the town.
Contract Agreement- Mayor Shields excused himself from the meeting at 6:25 p.m.
Board Discussed the contract agreement between Mrs. Shields and the Town.
Adjourn- The meeting adjourned at 7:45 p.m.
