The 2016 Colorado Hay Directory, published by the Colorado Department of Agriculture, is now available.
"For 30 years the Department has helped connect Colorado hay producers with buyers," said Wendy White, marketing specialist for the Colorado Department of Agriculture. "This free directory is a great resource for anyone looking for Colorado hay."

Following the discovery of a case of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) in December 2003, U.S. beef and beef product exports fell. Since 2003, USDA has led a multi-agency, full-court press, dedicating significant resources to restore foreign market access for U.S. beef. As a result, U.S. beef shipments had regained pre-BSE volumes by 2011 and even reached record values by 2014. Another central element of the U.S. strategy to maintain and expand foreign market access is insistence on policies that are based on the guidelines of the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE).

The Colorado corn crop's overall condition continues looking solid, according to a recent USDA report. As of Sunday, 17 percent of Colorado's corn crop was in "excellent" condition; 66 percent was listed as "good;" 14 percent was "fair;" 2 percent was "poor;" and only 1 percent was listed as "very poor."
Additionally, the state's crop is about caught up in terms of how much corn is entering the doughing stage. As of Sunday, 30 percent of the state's crop was in its doughing phase, which is just behind the five-year average of 34 percent.
2016 State Trade Expansion Program (STEP) award supports small business export growth across state
Administrator Maria Contreras-Sweet, head of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), announced this week that the State of Colorado has been awarded $186,140 through the agency's competitive State Trade Expansion Program (STEP) to support export growth among Colorado small businesses.

The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office has announced a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for shooting and killing cattle north of Hugo.
In a social media post, the office states, "If you know something, say something. It is time to evaluate your loyalty to this [criminal]."
