After 80s Friday, big change coming for the weekend in Kiowa County

Late summer temperatures draw to a close Friday and drop nearly 30 degrees to the mid-50s for the Columbus Day weekend.

After reaching the mid-80s Friday afternoon, overnight temperatures will fall to around 40 as a cold front drops into the area. Northwest wind will shift to the northeast later in the night, with speeds of 20 to 30 miles per hour expected. Gusts could reach 45 mph.

Cooler air is predicted to remain in place through at least next Thursday, with chances of showers starting Saturday night, continuing through Tuesday night.

Kiowa County will see some of the coolest temperatures in months this weekend, including a low in the 40s not seen since last spring.

Friday's high will be in the mid-70s under clear and sunny skies, which expected to persist throughout the weekend. Overnight, the low will drop to the mid-40s to help mark the first day of fall Saturday.

Temperatures rebound to the low 80s by Saturday afternoon, with the overnight low dropping to around 50. Winds will be out of the south in the 5-15 mile per hour range.

Kiowa County Forecast – Hot, Dry Through Next Weekend

Another hot, dry week is in store for Kiowa County.

Sunday will be the coolest day of the week, with high temperatures in the mid-80s expected before dropping off to the mid-50 overnight.  A south wind will increase to 15-20 miles per hour, potentially reaching gusts to 30 mph during the evening. There is a slim chance of seeing showers and thunderstorms between late evening and midnight as a disturbance moves across the state.
