Colorado Independent Redistricting Commissions to hold public hearings on eastern plains

The Joint Colorado Independent Redistricting Commissions will hold public hearings [in/on region] on the preliminary maps for the state's eight congressional districts, as well as the 65 state house and 35 senate districts.

Colorado residents will have the opportunity to testify about their communities and communicate directly with the Colorado Independent Redistricting Commissions. Both commissions will convene jointly at each location to take testimony both in-person and remotely.

Mr. King passed away following a very brief illness.

Viewing and visitation will take place Monday, July 5, 2021, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church at 450 3rd Street in Burlington. Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. 

A Funeral Mass of Resurrection is to be Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church. Burial will follow at 3:30 p.m. at the Eads Cemetery.

Dorothy Smith Brown

January 15, 1913 - August 4, 2020

Erma Dorothy Cross Smith Brown was born January 15, 1913, in her family home near Union, Nebraska, to parents Carl Cedric Cross and Erma Blanche Mougey Cross. She was the eldest of three sisters (Dorothy 1913, Ruth 1915-2013, and baby Margaret 1918-1922). In 1922 the family was stricken with scarlet fever and baby Margaret died as a result.

Steve Poet is an agricultural education teacher at the High Plains High School in Seibert. Although he has been working with kids for 20 years, this will be his fifth year at High Plains High School. He is the kind of invested teacher that all students hope to have when entering a high school ag program. Poet grew up in a rural setting himself, and with years of experience he has developed quite the green thumb.
