Law enforcement agencies across Colorado are cracking down on impaired driving during the Thanksgiving holiday period.
The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), Colorado State Patrol (CSP) and statewide law agencies collaborated to halt impaired drivers over Halloween weekend, the latest high-visibility enforcement effort as part of CDOT's The Heat Is On campaign. From October 26 through November 1, officers arrested 349 drivers, a decrease from the 375 citations last year.
Friday, June 22, 2018, Deputies responded to a report of an incident in the 900 block of Maine Street. After investigating the matters, Deputies issued an arrest warrant for Tawny Garrett, charged with menacing in violation of Colorado Revised Statute 18-3-206(1)(a).
44 Motorcycle Deaths so far in 2018
In Colorado, motorcycle deaths have increased 20 percent in the last five years. To keep roads safe for those traveling to and from the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and Colorado State Patrol (CSP) will conduct a joint DUI enforcement period from August 3 to 13. A Safe to Sturgis campaign will also enhance efforts to increase roadway safety.
Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper has appointed Kristei Jones as a Yuma County Court Judge in the 13th Judicial District. He fills a vacancy created by the resignation of the Honorable Sara Marie Wagers-Johnson.
Jones is a ranch owner and operator, as well as a location manager at the Aurora Cooperative. He has served as a Volunteer Fireman in Wauneta and Wray since 1995. He also served as the Mayor of Wray from 2008-2012, and was a member of the Wray City Council from 2004-2008.
55 Citations Issued for Unbuckled Children
The Kiowa County Sheriff's Office is seeking information after a possible bullet hole was discovered in an Eads home.
Deputies were called to the 1300 block of Luther Street Friday when the hole was discovered. A suspect has not been identified, and the Sheriff's Office has not released further details. The investigation is continuing.

Deputies from the Elbert County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a shooting Saturday night in northern Elbert County.
Between 1,000 and 1,500 people had gathered for a rodeo at a property in the 44000 block of Comanche Creek Road when a fight erupted. One person is said to have pulled out a gun and began shooting. It is not known if anyone was struck by bullets, however two people who were working the event were treated for minor injuries that occurred during the fight.
