Halloween DUI Enforcement Underway

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), Colorado State Patrol (CSP) and law enforcement agencies throughout the state have increased DUI enforcement for the Halloween weekend, arresting drivers impaired by alcohol, cannabis or other drugs as part of CDOT's The Heat Is On campaign. The enforcement aims to eliminate impaired driving related injuries and fatalities over Halloween weekend and could include sobriety checkpoints, saturation patrols and additional law enforcement on duty dedicated to DUI enforcement.

Grand Junction Police Chief New CBI Director

John Camper, who currently serves as the Grand Junction Police Chief, has been selected to become the new head of the Colorado Bureau of Investigation starting January 1.

Colorado Department of Public Safety Executive Director Stan Hilkey made the announcement Monday at the conclusion of a nation-wide effort to hire a new director to replace Michael Rankin. Rankin stepped down in early September in favor of a private sector opportunity.

The Weld County SWAT team has capture a man in Evans who had two outstanding warrants for his arrest.

Thursday morning, the Evans Police Department had been searching for Fernando Vasquez-Corral, 25, who was located at a home in the 2900 block of Glendale in Evans. Vasquez-Corral ran when he saw police, and barricaded himself inside his apartment. He refused to communicate with officers.
