  • The Kiowa County Economic Development Foundation teamed up with Colorado Tree Coalition Grant Program to plant 36 trees & remove stumps this past year, in Arlington, Haswell, Eads, Brandon Sheridan Lake and Towner

 

  • A number of Haswell folks enjoyed a card party on New Year's Eve at the center. Real fun for all!

  • We awoke to about 4 inches of snow and a lot of ice underneath. There was a power outage on the west end of the county.

 

  • Wild Horse Roundup-Curtis Schrimp: I received in the mail a large envelope with 55 fan letters inside. They were from a middle school class in Clifton.

  • Valley State Bank held Open House for Betty Frazee who retired after 24 years of dedicated service to the bank.

 

  • Several from the Kit Carson and Wild Horse area attended the Wild Horse Club Christmas party

Wild Horse Roundup-Curtis Schrimp: Going through a little metal box I found some tokens that was used for sales tax years ago. These had the name Lindquist who had the store probably 1909 or 1910

Once more Kit Carson area residents will be able to take  one of local artist, Glaida Craven, courses through Lamar Community College

The overall assessed value of Kiowa County rose almost $2 million dollars

  • Eads & Haswell received $560,000 in Grants. Eads received $492,100 for wastewater treatment system and Haswell 69,520 for firefighting equipment improvements.

 

  • Howard Mitchell Family along with several local teens will be leaving on their 5 annual Christmas Mission Trip to The Arbol de' Vida Orphanage
  •  in the surrounding Anapra Mexico area.

  • Eads explores trash collection options; Grant received for sewer system.

 

  • USDA Update Rod Johnson: We've gone from summer-like weather to the deep freeze. Up to1/2 inch of rain in some parts of the county.

 

  • A number of Kiowa County residents spent Thanksgiving in various parts of Texas visiting family and friends.

  • Linly Stum of Towner gave a slide presentation to the Eads Middle & High School on his trip to Russia.

 

  • Wild Horse Roundup Curtis Schrimp: I went out at 3:45am & saw a few meteors, what I saw wouldn't call a shower as they were a good distance apart. What fascinated me was the entire sky, as it was clear and the stars looked big and close.
