Home basketball games at Lamar Community College have been further postponed due to a shipping delay with the new scoreboards. The new estimated arrival for the scoreboards is Tuesday, November 13. If all goes well with the installation, the Lopes will host two home games this week on Wednesday and Thursday, November 14 and 15.
The Vilas High School A-team won top honors and the traveling trophy at the Knowledge Bowl hosted at Lamar Community College Friday, November 2.
With an overall score of 76 points, the Vilas team toppled Lamar High School, who had won the event for the past three years running. The LHS A team came in second with 72 points, while Plainview A took third with 56.
Colorado State University Extension will host a sunflower production meeting on Monday, November 26. The meeting will be held at the Prowers County Fairgrounds Home Ec Building and will be held from noon to 2:30 pm. The program will begin with a noon lunch complements of the Colorado Sunflower Administrative Committee (CSAC).

The Lopes (18-14) fell to Casper in straight sets (20-25, 20-25, 20-25) on October 31 in Cheyenne, Wyoming, during the first round of the Region IX Tournament. It was a bitter end for a team with eyes on making a third straight postseason run.

The Lamar Community College volleyball team will enter Region IX-South play 14-7 after winning two of three in Clarendon, Texas, over the weekend.
The Lopes earned sweeps against Clarendon and Garden City after dropping a five-set battle to Blinn at the Bulldog Classic. The team is home this week for three straight region matches beginning with Northeastern Junior College on Thursday.
The Galaxy Gallery, located at 108 North Main in Lamar, has recently opened to provide a showcase for artists of different styles, media, and visions. The hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and weekends by appointment.
Vincent Gearhart, one of the gallery curators said, "We are very happy to be able to provide artists of all types in southeast Colorado a location where they can have their artwork available for display to the public and not kept in a closet or storage area someplace."
Lamar Community College is currently accepting vendor applications for the 44thAnnual Art, Craft & Food Festival set for November 10. Vendor space is limited, so any interested businesses are encouraged to submit the application as soon as possible to reserve their space.
Vendor applications are available online at lamarcc.edu/about-lcc/communityinvolvement. Applications are due by October 22.
