Colorado Master Gardener Plant Sale Set

The Colorado Master Gardener / Supporters of Horticulture Education annual plant sale has been set for May 12 at the Colorado State Fairgrounds Fine Arts Building.

The sale will be held from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. with vendors offering native plants, water-wise plants, vegetables, annuals, perennials, hanging baskets and other plants.

Purchases can be made with cash or checks only.

The Colorado State Fairgrounds is located at 1001 Beulah Avenue in Pueblo.

CSU Extension Presentation on the Mediterranean Diet

Are you interested in a healthier lifestyle? Are you curious about the Mediterranean Diet? Mediterranean Diet: A dietary pattern for healthy living will be offered by Colorado State University Extension - Pueblo County January 24 from 1:00-4:00 pm.

Participants will learn strategies to incorporate Mediterranean foods and habits into their lifestyle.

Free Driftwood at Lake Pueblo

Shorter days and cooler nights produce fireplace weather and to help keep the public warm, Lake Pueblo State Park is again inviting visitors to gather free firewood from the shorelines within park boundaries.

Between November 15 and December 15, driftwood found along the lake shores may be taken for free by visitors. No other wood, including limbs and branches on live or dead standing trees, may be gathered.

Permits are unlimited and can be obtained at the park's Visitor Center between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., seven days-a-week.

Gardner Town Hall Set for Monday

Senator Cory Gardner (R-CO) will be holding a town hall meeting Monday in Pueblo. The meeting is scheduled to run from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Pueblo Convention Center, 320 Central Main Street in Pueblo. Parking is available at the SRDA parking lot located off Alan Hammel between Union Avenue and Central Main Street.

Space will be limited, so those who would like to attend are encouraged to arrive early. Doors will open at 10:30 a.m.

Pueblo Weather Radar Back in Service Earlier than Expected

The National Weather Service office in Pueblo announced late Saturday that its weather radar site has returned to service days earlier than expected following repairs.

In mid-September, the NWS announced that the site was offline due the failure of the bull gear. The gear is a primary component for rotating the radar antenna, and is located in the pedestal.

Food Safety Training for Home Food Sellers

The Colorado State University extension office in Pueblo is offering low-cost training for people interested in selling home-made foods. The training meets the requirements of the Colorado Cottage Food Act.

Two classes, entitled Cottage Food Safety Training, will be presented by Extension Agent Laura Krause. The first class will be October 3 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the CSU Extension Office, located at 701 Court Street, Suite C, in Pueblo. The class will be repeated November 7 from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.
