Arns and Strube Named to 2016 All-Colorado Academic Team
Lamar Community College is proud to announce Kristin Arns and Beecher Strube as the two students named to the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) All Colorado Academic Team for 2016.
Each year the All-Colorado Academic Team Luncheon and Awards Ceremony honors the top high-performing, community service oriented students from 14 Colorado community colleges. These students belong to their college's chapter(s) of the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) honor society and have been selected as being the "best of the best" from their respective institutions.
LCC Seeks Nominations for Outstanding Alumni
Each year Lamar Community College seeks to recognize outstanding alumni through the Alumnus/Alumna of the Year award. LCC is currently accepting nominations for 2016.
Regional Science Fair Features Over 200 Student Projects
Wednesday, February 17, Lamar Community College's Wellness Center was abuzz on with students from Alta Vista, Eads, Holly, Lamar Middle School, Lamar High School, Parkview, Plainview, Springfield, Walsh, and Wiley as they competed in the annual Southeast Colorado Regional Science Fair. The regional science fair featured 204 projects from elementary through high school level, from which 25 junior high and high school projects were chosen to continue to the state science fair in April.
Regional Knowledge Bowl Results

The regional knowledge bowl competition was held at Lamar Community College on February 10. Teams from 24 schools scattered across Southeastern Colorado competed in the state-qualifying event. Six 2A schools and 18 1A schools were represented at the meet.
The competition was fierce,and a mere five points separated the third through eighth place teams in the 1A division, while there was a four-point spread between the second and fourth place 2A teams. The top six 1A and top two 2A schools qualified for the state tournament.
