Earthquake Strikes Northwest Colorado Saturday

A small earthquake occurred early Saturday morning in northwest Colorado.

According to the United States Geological Survey the quake, measuring 2.7 on the Richter Scale, happened shortly after 1:00 a.m. Saturday about 18 miles north of Glenwood Springs in Garfield county. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 1.7 miles.

Only one person has reported feeling the quake.

Colorado’s Unaffiliated Voters May Receive Two Ballots for June Primary Election

Unaffiliated voters across Colorado may soon receive ballots for both the Republican and Democrat parties for the June primary election.

Proposition 108, passed by Colorado voters in 2016, allows voters who have not opted to affiliate with either of the two major political parties to vote in either - but not both - primary elections later this year. In the past, unaffiliated voters were required to join one of the parties in order to vote in the primary, though they had the option to return to unaffiliated status or switch to another party following the election.

Spring is upon us, giving Coloradans everywhere a reason to celebrate. But in case your next spring celebration includes alcohol or marijuana, know that law enforcement will be on heightened alert to keep impaired drivers off the road. The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), Colorado State Patrol (CSP) and local law enforcement agencies across the state are participating in The Heat Is OnSpring Events DUI enforcement period. The enforcement period will continue for more than five weeks, through Monday, May 14.

Sand Creek Historic Site Switches to Daily Hours for Summer Season

The Sand Creek Massacre National Historic Site will switch to its summer schedule beginning April 1.  The park will open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., seven days a week.  This schedule will remain in effect through November 30, 2018.

The park will remain open for all three 2018 summer federal holidays - Memorial Day (May 28), Independence Day (July 4), and Labor Day (September 3).

Two Juveniles Arrested for Threats to Niwot High School in Colorado

Two male juveniles have been arrested for alleged threats against Niwot High School that occurred in mid-February.

The Boulder County Sheriff's Office received Safe 2 Tell reports February 16 in which a 16-year-old male, who has not been identified, made statements and released a video related to a school shooting in Florida. Other students at the school were concerned and made reports to authorities.
