Another hint of spring is in store for the weekend after a slightly cooler start Friday.

High temperatures will be in the 40s over most of the eastern plains of Colorado Friday, though La Junta and Otero county may reach 50. Light overnight snow will mostly dissipate by early morning, with clouds lingering later into the morning. Look for wind gusts around 30 miles per hour continuing through the day into Friday night.

Generally dry conditions will persist through the weekend along with windy areas, particularly in the mountains where gusts from 30 to 65 miles per hour are possible. Warmer temperatures are expected Saturday as highs reach into the 50s, and further rise toward 70 Sunday across the plains.

Fire danger could increase over the weekend, so be cautious about any outdoor burning and other activities that could spark a fire.

For the Presidents’ Day holiday Monday, temperatures are expected to retreat back to the 50s before falling further Tuesday.
