Scholarship Deadlines Approaching at Lamar Community College
Each year, over $300,000 is available in scholarship funds at Lamar Community College. While the College and LCC Foundation plan to award the same amount next academic year, application deadlines are quickly approaching. All interested students should apply for scholarships as soon as possible.
The College and LCC Foundation administer scholarships offered by the college, State, partnering foundations and organizations, and private donors. Students can apply for multiple scholarships at one time using LCC’s quick online application, which can be accessed at www.lamarcc.edu/scholarships.
Most scholarships have a deadline of April 1, but some are due earlier. The LCC Presidential Scholarship has one of the earliest due dates with a deadline of March 9, 2017. The Quarterly Forum/COSI Scholarship applications are due March 15, followed by the Kane Family Foundation Scholarship due on March 24. A few scholarships have a priority deadline for first consideration of funding, but funds may be available until the fall semester.
While some scholarships are merit-based, many are need-based and are specific to the student’s planned field of study while attending Lamar Community College. There are scholarships specifically for students entering the Nursing, Horse Training & Management or Equine Business Management, or Agriculture departments, among others.
LCC is an affordable option for college, and scholarships are one of the best ways to offset the cost of attendance and minimize student debt.
