Notice - Changes in Kiowa County government services' hours

The Kiowa County Courthouse, Social Services and Public Health offices will have new business hours effective January 1, 2022; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.   Monday - Thursday. Most of the offices will be open through the lunch hour.  These offices will no longer be open on Fridays but the Courthouse North Entrance will be open as the Library will continue to be open Tuesday - Friday with new hours from 8:00 to 5:00.

The Eads Landfill new hours will be Wednesday, Friday & Saturdays from 8:00 to 3:30.  They will be working at the recycling center on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Due to the increased cost of operating the landfill, the new fee will be five cents ($0.05) per pound.  This change will go into effect January 1, 2022.

The Road & Bridge department will also go to a 4 day work week, Mondays - Thursdays permanently.  They will no longer be able to furnish a free load of gravel annually to county residents.  Gravel may still be purchased from the County, but it will have to be hauled by yourself or you can contract with another individual or company for transport. Other than routine maintenance and repairs; damages to roads and right of ways, culverts and cattle guards caused by landowners or their employees will now be billed to the landowners.  If you receive a bill for these types of services and have questions please call the Commissioners Office at 719-438-5810.

These changes have been implemented due to the reduced revenue for Kiowa County and the efforts of the Kiowa County Board of Commissioners to continue to provide the necessary services to the county residents while operating with the available funding.  Your understanding is greatly appreciated.
