“Love your neighbor as yourself.”  It is a fact you can never say “I love you too much”.  So say it often and show it by your actions.  Dr. Delores Krieger

This is homecoming Week at Eads High.  If you saw unusually dressed students and some teachers, you are probably seeing “dress day garb”.  The Community Pep Rally will be at the Football Field on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.   On Friday the volleyball games with Elbert begin at 4:00 p.m. followed by the Football game at 7:00 p.m.  Crowning for the Homecoming King and Queen will be at Half-Time. The King and Queen are chosen from the Senior Class candidates who are:  Kelly Ramos and Rhett Uhland, Lakota Roberson and Trent Rittgers and Micah Crawford and Caden Parker.  The underclass representatives in the Royalty Court are:  9th—Duff Jenson and Angel Medina, 10th --Molly Stolzenberger and Gary Davis, 11th—Mariah Smith and Zach Haase

Tiffany Rouse, Booster Club Officer expressed much thanks to the people who helped paint the Eagle Head motifs on the street pavement.   Each head has the name of a student athlete.  Those eagle fan volunteers were Riki, Cody, and Jax Cordova, Gay Uhland, Monica Fell Uhland, Rhonda Uhland, Tracy Smith, MeiLan Lening, and Tony Jensen who gave their time Sunday to paint the pavement!

The Eads Senior Citizens enjoyed a noon lunch last Wednesday at the Center.  They changed the dates of some of their meals so that their director, Sharon Frazee, will more likely be able to come between medical treatments.  The Bunch will be Wednesday, October 5th at 10:00 a.m.   The Sage Meal will be on Wednesday, October 12th so it would be good to make your reservation with Areta Laird.  The monthly noon lunch will be on the fourth Wednesday of the month, October 26th and this will be a pot luck lunch.

Haswell senior citizens had their meal last Wednesday also.  On Sunday evening they had their Community Card Party at the Center with lots of yummy finger foods.

Robin Musgrave and I made a delivery to the Haswell Propane store Saturday.  My, that is a busy center of lots of men and women visiting, and travelers buying gas, checking their tires, and it is always fun to look around Glenda Stoker’s Collectible and Antique store.   We found Mary Shafer outside sweeping her walkway and watering her flowers.  She was expecting company from Kansas to stay overnight again.  We enjoyed driving up and down the streets to see the homes, some of which have pretty lawns and landscaping.

Thursday morning about six or more employees of the CDOT (Colorado Department of Transportation) came to Eads to listen to statements, facts, pleas, compliments and questions related to the repair of Highway 96 and 287.  Most citizens were primarily concerned that the CDOT director of this region says they need to close the wonderful Road Side Park in Eads.  We feel and know it is vital to tourists and our community too.  We had hoped to change or modify their plans because we a special situation and place.  It seemed to me that the lady engineer said they would listen but at this point all she seemed to agree to was to pay us the usual allotment until December.

Michelle Wyckoff and Donald Oswald thank the CDOT officials for the improvements of the pavement of Highway 96 from Eads to Haswell.  When we drove to Haswell I could see what they meant.  It is so very smooth to drive on that it felt like floating or skimming.

Virginia Mitchell was so very happy over the week-end to have all four of her daughters and most of her grandchildren, and the men in the family to be together in one place.  That dinner party was at the home of Dawna (Mitchell) and Kip Peck for a big birthday dinner and happy time on Sunday.  Then Monday afternoon, Teri Castle, and the Weisbrod ECU staff hosted a party for Virginia with the residents and friends.

Saturday, October 15th is a day of several choices of entertainment.  One could go to the Haswell Bazaar and/or meal or the Octoberfest at the Fair Grounds in Eads.  Some people will be at the Road Rally out of the Saloon.

Let me remind citizens about town or the country that they are welcome to come to the 9:00 a.m. “Coffee Hour” every Thursday morning at Weisbrod ECU and the “Coffee Hour” at 2:00 p.m. every Friday afternoon.  It is so nice for the residents of both facilities for them to get to visit with or see people from the community.   Another time that it would be nice for visitors at both facilities is a 2; 00 p.m. on Sunday when a local pastor has a chapel service.

In Colorado the leaves are beginning to turn to golden colors, the current bushes across from Courkamps are red and the mums at Ellicotts, Krafts, Berrys are so beautiful.   The woodvines have turned red at the Richardson’s, Hollis’, and Rouse’s homes.  Along Maine Street there have been many pots of pretty blooming flowers that are carefully cared for and watered by Commisssioner Cindy McLoud.  When she has to be away at meetings you can see her mother, Joyce Berry, walking up and down the street too with a large water pot.
