For the week ending August 14, 2022, there were 6.8 days suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. Topsoil moisture supplies rated 45% very short, 37% short, 18% adequate, and 0% surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies rated 42% very short, 36% short, 22% adequate, and 0% surplus.
Field Crops Report: Corn condition rated 20% very poor, 24% poor, 27% fair, 25% good, and 4% excellent. Corn silking was 90%, behind 96% last year and 97% for the five-year average. Dough was 63%, behind 72% last year and 73% average. Dented was 25%, near 23% last year, but behind 32% average.
Soybean condition rated 11% very poor, 20% poor, 33% fair, 33% good, and 3% excellent. Soybeans blooming was 85%, near 84% last year and 87% average. Setting pods was 57%, near 58% last year, and behind 64% average.
