Kiowa County Hospital District meeting minutes - June 25, 2019

The Kiowa County Hospital District and County Board met in regular session on May 28, 2019 at 6:34 p.m. at the Bransgrove Building Meeting Room. 

District Board members present were: Mary Eikner, Cathryn Anderson, Dennis Pearson, Sylvia Shields and Priscilla Waggoner. 

County Board members present were: Craig Kerfoot, Whitney Barnett, and John Negley. Absent: Kevin Davis (called) and Ken Flory (called). 

Others present: Shannon Dixon, Char Korrell, Ellen Lane and Beth Spady. 

CALL TO ORDER 

The meeting was called to order by Priscilla Waggoner, Chairman of the Board at 6:34 pm. 

COUNTY VOTING MEMBER SELECTION 

Craig Kerfoot, John Negley and Whitney Barnett.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES 

A motion was made by Cathryn Anderson to approve the May 28, 2019 minutes as presented. Motion seconded by Mary Eikner. All aye. 

APPROVAL OF AGENDA 

A motion was made by Sylvia Shields to approve the agenda as presented. Motion seconded by Craig Kerfoot. All aye. 

PUBLIC COMMENT 

No one was present for public comment. 

CREDENTIALING 

Dr. Jeffrey Alpert and Dr. Dana Greene were approved for active privileges by Med Staff. A motion was made by Mary Eikner to approve all credentialing as presented above and seconded by John Negley. All aye. 

POLICIES & PROCEDURES 

The Policy Committee is in the process of reviewing the policies for the Eads Medical Clinic and the Radiology department. No policies to present to the Board this month.

STANDING REPORTS 

CEO 

Lori Myers has agreed to join the Radiology Department at KCHD effective August 5, 2019. Lori is a certified Radiology Tech with CT certification and will work full time. 

CFO 

The May financials were reviewed and showed a profit for the month. In May, days cash on hand was 165 and days in AR was 83. 

CNO 

KCHD continues to look at ways to recruit nursing staff. 

All nursing staff have completed classes and testing on cardiac rhythms. 

HOSPITAL QUALITY & SAFETY 

The Quality Report Scorecard was reviewed. There were no med errors. There was one fall with no injury noted. Infection rate has dropped to 5% and the number of decubitus ulcers has also decreased. 

OLD BUSINESS 

AVERAeCARE 

We anticipate a start date of August 26, 2019. Equipment will be arriving soon for installation. 

Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) 

Upon the recommendation of our DOLA representative, the DOLA grant has been withdrawn so KCHD can gather additional information for the next grant cycle. The grant will be resubmitted in August of 2019. KCHD is looking to purchase a boiler outright for approximately $200,000. 

NEW BUSINESS 

CEO EVALUATION 

Annual evaluations are to be completed in July of 2019. The CEO evaluation form will be shared with the Board so that all members can provide input.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:25 pm. Motion by Cathryn Anderson and seconded by Mary Eikner. All aye.
