Andrew Newton James, born in Cheyenne Wells October 5, 1965, passed away peacefully April 12, 2025. He was the beloved son of John Tom and Doris James. He had a second mother in his sister, Deborah, who was 15 years older and always kept a close eye on him.

Raised in the close-knit community of Eads, Andrew was an active and athletic youth, participating in football, basketball, wrestling, and track during his formative years.

After graduating from Eads High School in 1984, Andrew pursued higher education at the Colorado School of Mines, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in computer engineering in 1990. A visionary in his field, Andrew, was ahead of his time in the world of technology. His career spanned more than 25 years in IT and infrastructure, during which he traveled the globe, leading development and innovation projects with brilliance and passion.

Beyond his professional achievements, Andrew was known by all who met him as selfless, kind, and generous. He gave himself freely, always ready to lend a helping hand, offer thoughtful guidance, or simply be present with quiet compassion. His warmth and humility left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.

Andrew will be remembered for the deep love he held for his family. He cherished the time he spent with his daughter, Hillerie, and her family, as well as with his niece, Amy, and her children, and his close friends and colleagues. His warmth, intellect, and adventurous spirit touched the lives of many, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Andrew found his greatest joy in his family. He is survived by his daughters, Hillerie and Whitley; granddaughters, Addalyn and Emily; beloved nieces and nephews; great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Andrew’s life will be honored and celebrated May 1, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the World Prayer Center, 11005 Voyager Parkway, in Colorado Springs.

He will be laid to rest in the Eads Cemetery with a graveside service May 2, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.
