It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Betty M. Cornett, aka Elizabeth Rose, September 19, 2024, in Cheyenne Wells.

Betty was born September 26, 1934, in Oak Park, Illinois. She was a civil servant and homemaker and enjoyed “cheering” for everyone!  She had a history of sitting in the bleachers and clapping for both teams to win!

She faithfully served our Lord, and loved her family and many friends with all her heart.  She was a role model citizen, volunteering her time with the United Methodist Church, the Garden Club, and numerous school and sporting activities.

She is survived by sister and brother-in-law, Sandy and Mike Gilbert; daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Daniel Hampton; son, William Gregory Cornett; five grandchildren; Tiffany, Dana, and James aka Jamie Hampton, and Ryan Taylor and Nellie Cornett; grandson-in-law, Tomas Brown (married to Tiffany); three great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her loyal and always loving companion, Lena, a King Charles Cavalier Spaniel.

She was preceded in death by her father, Oswald Henry McDonald; mother, Mabel Reed McDonald; sister, Ardis (Beadles) Combs; and her husband, William G. Cornett.

A Celebration of Life will be in Palm Springs October 26, 2024.

In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Cheyenne Manor, 561 W 1st Street N., PO Box 938, Cheyenne Wells, CO 80810.

Arrangements are under the direction of Brown Funeral Home.
