Billy Truman Calhoun was born January 19, 1929, on the family farm southwest of Colony, Oklahoma, to Thomas and Caroline Calhoun.
As a young boy, he attended school in Colony until the school burned down, then he attended the local Indian school until the eighth grade. Bill had to quit school to help on the family farm, as his father was legally blind.
The family later moved into Cordell, and Billy was called up to military duty. He was stationed in Fort Lewis, Washington, with the Army. After his discharge, Bill went on a harvest crew and ended up in Chivington. He leased some land and farmed it until the drought. At this time, he went to work for Home Oil filling station, in Eads. While working in Eads, he met the love of his life, Barbara Kelley, and, June 10, 1956, married her in the United Methodist Church.
Bill got a job with Colorado Interstate Gas, and they lived in Boise City, Oklahoma. Later, he transferred to the Mocane plant near Beaver, Oklahoma. He was with the company for 31 years.
Bill had many hobbies. He enjoyed coyote hunting, playing his electric guitar, snow skiing, water skiing, and camping.
He was a proud cowboy, and loved working cattle and riding his horse. He helped local farmers and ranchers, cutting wheat, rounding up cattle, and feeding and watering cattle during the winter.
Bill loved sharing jokes with his grandson, Dustin.
His favorite place in the world was the mountains of Colorado at “the cabin” near South Fork. He loved fly fishing and wrestling a big brown or trout out of the Rio Grande River.
Bill passed this life September 13, 2025, at his home in Edmond, Oklahoma.
He was proceeded in death by his parents; three brothers, Virgil, Argil, Ova; sister, Opal; brother-in-law, Robert Kelley; and a nephew, David Crow.
