Charles John Mitchek, lovingly known as Chuck or Bobe, passed away at the age of 70 while doing what he loved most - working on his land. A true farmer and rancher to the core, Chuck was born in 1954 in Cheyenne Wells, and spent his life rooted deeply in the soil, livestock, and the country plow boy cowboy lifestyle he cherished.

Chuck was larger than life - fun, intense, and unforgettable. His contagious laugh, one-of-a-kind nicknames, and signature sayings were as much a part of him as his love for Crown Royal, horse racing, and infamous crop tours.  He was the toughest man most of us have ever met - yet underneath that grit was a soft, teddy bear side that showed up in his love for his family and those closest to him. He lived life with authenticity, purpose, and joy, and taught those around him the values of hard work, honesty, and living fully.

Every year, he made a point to put out bulls on Hillary’s birthday - a tradition that ensured he always remembered to call her. That gesture, like so many others, is now a cherished legacy that will be carried forward.

He was the best dad and grandpa a girl could ask for - strong, supportive, and endlessly loving. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, and though their time with him was cut too short, his love and values will live on in their hearts and memories.

Chuck is survived by his daughter, Hillary Mitchek; son, Levi Mitchek; and his beloved grandchildren, Alex Baird, Roen Baird, and August Baird. He is also survived by his loving girlfriend Deb Ellison; siblings; and Tom Donnelly; along with many lifelong friends he considered family.

Graveside funeral services will be held May 30, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Fairview Cemetery in Cheyenne Wells.  A reception will follow at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Cheyenne Wells.

Arrangements are under the direction of Brown Funeral Home.
