Darold "Dee" Foxworthy, age 86, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2026, in Colorado.

Born on October 31, 1939, in Cherokee, Oklahoma, to Virgil and Pansy Foxworthy, Dee’s early life was a true adventure. Because his father worked as a driller operator for Gulf Oil, the family moved frequently, living across the Central and Western United States, as well as spending a few memorable years in Denmark.

A testament to his adaptability, Dee attended 13 different schools between grades 1 and 12 before graduating from high school in Choteau, Montana. He went on to attend the University of Colorado, earning his degree from the College of Business.

Ever enterprising, Dee and a partner purchased and operated a franchise bookkeeping business while he completed his studies at CU. After later selling his share of the franchise, he began a distinguished 35-year career of government service with the USDA Forest Service, starting at the Federal Center Denver, Colorado and eventually retiring in Alexandria, Virginia.

Following the birth of his second grandchild, Dee and his beloved wife, Gloria, made the easy decision to relocate back to Colorado to be closer to their family.

An avid reader throughout his life, Dee also found great joy in woodworking. Above all, his greatest passion was spending time with his grandchildren and, later, his great-granddaughter.

Dee was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Pansy Foxworthy; his brother, Lee Foxworthy; and his son, Michael Foxworthy.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Gloria Foxworthy; his sons, Mark Foxworthy and Greg Foxworthy; his grandchildren, Ashton Foxworthy Moya and Christopher Foxworthy; and his great-granddaughter, Sapphira Moya.

Graveside Memorial Services will be held later at the Eads Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Brown Funeral Home.
