David Michael “Mike” Sheridan was born November 10, 1951, in Denver to Lee DeForest and Isabelle Fern (Barker) Sheridan. He was the fourth of five children, with three older brothers, Ted, Dick, and Jerry, and a younger sister, Sonya. Mike grew up in Colorado and Texas, and graduated high school in Eads in 1970.
Mike married Terry Wilkinson and the couple had three children together - Michael, Shelby, and Brice. The family lived in Eads and Lamar, and eventually Rawlins, Green River, and Douglas, Wyoming, as Mike worked as a lineman for Rocky Mountain Power and followed the work wherever it took him. Mike lost his wife, Terry, to cancer in 2007. Later, through an introduction by a mutual friend, he met his second wife, Dee Wood, and the couple married in 2010.
Mike was an outdoorsman through and through. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and golfing. He was fond of gun collecting, and even installed a reloading room in his house. After retiring, Mike especially enjoyed days at his shop, working on projects, playing poker and cornhole, barbecuing with friends and family and, of course, drinking a few beers with anyone who happened to stop in. Mike always had the best music on, and there was never a shortage of stories being told or quick-witted jokes. There was rarely a shortage of cold beers, either. The only rule was that if you drank ‘em, you brought more the next time you came.
Mike’s stubborn, but loving heart gave out April 23, 2026, with Dee and Shelby by his side. “For I must be traveling on, now, ‘cause there's too many places I've got to see. I’m as free as a bird now…”
Mike was preceded in death by his first wife, Terry; son, Michael; brother, Jerry; and his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Dee Wood-Sheridan; daughter, Shelby Sheridan; son, Brice Sheridan; granddaughter, Brooke Townsend; siblings, Ted (Becky) Sheridan, Dick (Fannie) Sheridan, and Sonya (Gary) Kiniston; and sister-in-law, Donita Sheridan. Mike is also survived by his stepsons, Chase (Katy) Wood and their children, Avery and Austin Hanson and Ava Wood and Kael (Stacy) Wood and their children Kenley, Wesley and Bosten Wood.
Grandpa Mike was adored, and the memories of cutting his hair, the smell of a Kool, drinking Dr. Pepper, and their childhood days of running wild at the shop will be cherished by Ava, Kenley, Wesley, the “M.T.B” Bosten.
In lieu of a funeral, Mike requested that those who knew him, and even those who didn’t, because he never knew a stranger, get together to burn a steak and have a beer in his memory.
A gathering will take place this summer at the shop.
Memorial donations may be made to Special K Ranch at P.O. Box 479, Columbus, Montana 59019.
