David Neal Ross of Cheyenne Wells, Colorado, passed away on July 28, 2026, at Keefe Memorial Hospital.
David was born on November 7, 1954, in Cheyenne Wells, Colorado, to Bob and Wanda (Hull) Ross.
He grew up working alongside his dad and siblings at Ross' Super. He graduated from Cheyenne Wells High School in 1973, shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp as a Military Police Officer for 18 months.
David returned to Colorado where he worked in the oilfield as derrickman and then changed position and started running a hot oil truck for Pelco. After several years in the oilfield, he decided it was time for a change and went to work for Napa where his love for tinkering with cars came in handy.
David needed another change and started working for the Town of Cheyenne Wells in the early 1990's and worked there for 17 years. Then his dream job came along, and he went to work for C&L Sanitation on the trash truck.
He retired in 2019 and you could find him watching his westerns and hanging with his cat Roy.
He married Elizabeth Gibbs on July 26, 1980, and together they had one child, Melissa Ross.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Wanda Ross; his siblings, Vickie Clawson, Pam Carrol, Bobby Ross, and Billy Ross.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Ross, his three daughters: Melissa Ross, Cheyenne Wells, Colorado; Tobie (Brent) Overson, St. Johns, Arizona; Mandy Ross; his siblings: Candy Colby, Colorado Springs, Colorado; John Ross, Lompoc, California; and 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to join David's family on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. for a gathering at the Cheyenne Wells City Hall. Lunch will be provided.
