Gertrude Ryser, daughter of Forrest “Fuzz” and Viola (Delay) Kennedy, was born February 19,1921 in Coyle, Oklahoma. She gained her angel wings June 11, 2026, at 105 years of age. She now rests at the feet of our sweet Jesus.
She was united in marriage to Harry G. Ryser August 17, 1942. She was a member of the Christian Church, Cheyenne Wells, Colorado; The Rebekah Lodge; The auxiliary for the Cheyenne Wells hospital and nursing home; a cook at the school and hospital for many years; a Wife; Mother; Sister; and Friend to many.
She came to Kansas in a covered wagon at the age of 4 in 1925. The wheel broke, so Fuzz put her, her twin sister, Garnett, Baby Sister Kay, her Mother Viola, and a rat terrier dog on the train to Belleville, Kansas. Uncle Jess Dohrman picked them up and took them to his house west of Hawk Cemetery, Haddam, Kansas, where they waited for her dad and brother to arrive. She moved to Cheyenne Wells after marriage in 1943, where she was a life-long member of the community, apart from a short time when she lived in Haddam, Kansas before relocating back to Cheyenne Wells. She helped her husband for many years in their Conoco station. Her hobbies included gardening, quilting, crocheting, embroidery, and camping. But she was most known for baking her Famous Cinnamon Rolls as well as sharing her crocheted potholders.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fuzz and Viola, Husband, Harry, Son, Aldes, two Brothers, Russell and Willard, five sisters, Garnett, Kay, Annie, Evelyn, and Becky and two sons-in-law, Joe McIntyre and Gwynn Ward.
She is survived by her daughter, Judith “Judy” Ward of Loveland, Colorado; grandchildren, Dennis McIntyre, Goodland, Kansas, Shelley (Clifford) Carroll, Herington, Kansas, and Connie (Lewis) Mathes, Johnstown, Colorado; great granddaughters, Hilleri (Bryon) Koehn, Forgan, Oklahoma, Kyndall Wright, Johnstown, Colorado, Jeani (Brooke) Wildebrandt, Gerald, Missouri, Sarah (Javy) Conde, Goodland, Kansas, Rebecca (Sean) Wheeler, Goodland, Kansas, and Jasmine (Trinity) McIntyre, Goodland, Kansas; great great grandchildren, Remington Koehn, Lux Breitkreutz, Kash Wright, Irie Wright, Luna Wildebrandt, Juniper Wildebrandt, Isabella Conde, Aria Wheeler, Athena Wheeler Other relatives and many, many friends.
Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church, Cheyenne Wells, Colorado or Cheyenne Manor Nursing Home, Cheyenne Wells, Colorado.
