James was born on November 9, 1940, in Eads, CO to his parents, James and Mable Baxter. He had 5 brothers and one sister.
He grew up in Colorado and had 4 children with his first wife Evelyn. In his late twenties, he moved to San Diego, CA to live with his brother, Roy Baxter. While living with his brother, he met his wife, Maria Baxter. They were married in November 1970, in Yuma, AZ. He had two daughters with Maria. James earned his living as an auto mechanic. He was one of the best!
James loved all things that involved cars, trucks, motorcycles, and ATVs. He built his own ATVs that he would ride when he would take his family to the desert every Thanksgiving and on weekends with his best friend, Rick. One of his favorite cars was his green Baja Bug. Country music was his favorite music. He loved to watch western movies and TV shows. He even met John Wayne once. James also had a soft spot for dogs. All the dogs loved him, and they brought him a lot of joy and love.
James is survived by his wife, Maria Baxter; his children: Yissel McCardie, Nereida Nailor (Ryan), Charlotte Baxter, Jolene Baxter, James W. Baxter, and Sheila Sinclair; his brothers: Henry Baxter, Roy Baxter, Dan Baxter, and Bill Baxter; and many beautiful grandchildren.
