J.W. Kemp

February 1, 1928 – June 30, 2018

J.W. Kemp was born on February 1, 1928, in Adrian, Texas, to Jonnie Kemp and Iva Williams-Kemp and passed away on Saturday June 30, 2018, at the Prairie Pines Assisted Living in Eads at the age of 90.

J.W. was preceded in death by his parents; by two sisters – Ivalene Tixier and Maudene Harris and by one daughter-in-law – Cindy Kemp.

J.W. is survived by his wife - Mary Jane Kemp; by three children – John (Bonnie) Kemp of Lamar; Jim Kemp of Burlington, CO; and Sheila Kemp of Denver; by eight grandchildren – Branden (Maribeth) Kemp; Ty (Tonya) Kemp; Jaedyn Kemp; Shasta (Mark) Brown; Chancy (Amber) Kemp; Jessie Briegel; Jamie Briegel; and Travis Briegel; by five great grandchildren – Jordan (Miranda) Kemp; Tarin Kemp; Brittney Kemp; Logan Brown; and Dru Brown; and by three great-great grandchildren – Callum Kemp; Wallace Kemp; and Porter Kemp; as well as numerous other relatives and a host of friends.

The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Prairie Pines Assisted Living or to Lamar Area Hospice either direct or in care of the funeral home office.

A celebration of life funeral service for J.W. Kemp, was held July 5, 2018, at the Peacock Family Chapel in Lamar with Ian Blacker of the Lamar Christian Church officiating. Burial followed in the Fairmount Cemetery in Lamar.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Peacock Funeral Home.
