Kathleen Marie Crabb was born May 12, 1959, in Eads to Marjorie and Norman Crabb, and unexpectedly passed away May 21, 2024 at her home in Burlington.

She was one of six siblings who grew up in eastern Colorado.  She graduated from Cheyenne Wells High School in 1977, where she excelled at playing basketball. She later attended Nebraska Christian College.

Cheyenne Wells is also where she met her future husband, Kevin Giedd. The two later married June 21, 1980, and moved to Burlington, where they had their only child, Kelly, in 1983.

The family remained in Burlington where Kathy was an active member in the community, running multiple businesses and raising her beloved daughter. She enjoyed expressing her creativity through nature, and loved being outdoors.

Kathy became a grandma to Reagan and Beau, who were the highlight of her life. She spent many of their younger years watching them and having regular sleepovers.  Some of their favorite memories of her include making their own board games and playing in the yard.

She loved traveling and spending time with her family, and was an avid collector of many things. Kathy was very passionate about her faith, an excellent cook, avid reader, animal rescuer, and an excellent mother.  Kathy always made sure her family was taken care of and relentlessly pursued a relationship with them.

Kathy’s purpose in life changed after her husband of 40 years passed away, and she struggled heavily with this loss.  Her death has left an emptiness in our hearts, and many tears on our cheeks, but we rest in the knowledge that she is at peace and is dancing in Heaven. Though difficult, we will carry on, hoping to sustain only a fraction of the love that she continually blessed us with.

She is preceded in death by her father, Norman Crabb, and husband, Kevin Giedd.
She is survived by her daughter, Kelly James (husband Brian); grandchildren; Reagan and Beau James; mother, Marjorie Crabb; sisters, Rhonda Cox, Susan Bowser (David), and Teresa Dabbs (Chuck); brothers, Robin Crabb (Paula) and Steven Crabb; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Services will be scheduled at a later time.

Arrangements are under the direction of Brown Funeral Home.
