Lawrence “Bob” Thomas Alfano was born in Metairie, Louisiana, April 20, 1977, to Frank T. Alfano and Elsa H. Alfano (Cooper). He was welcomed home by his three siblings Chanell Ann, Frank Thomas, Jr., and Laurie Ann Alfano. After losing his parents as a young boy, Lawrence was adopted by his uncle and aunt, Thomas and Cleola Alfano, gaining two siblings, Mary Kay and Andrew Alfano.

At a young age Lawrence moved out into the world, as a free-spirited adventurer who never knew a stranger. He became affectionately known as Bob and began a new life as one who would begin a journey of love, service, and rescue as each person he encountered was a potential new brother, sister, and life-long friend to be made.

Bob lived many different places, but always considered himself to be “reborn” in Colorado. He loved this state to no end, and lived in many different parts of it, from the mountains to the plains. In all of the communities he lived in, you can guarantee that everyone knew who he was. He was the guy that was always willing to help anyone in need without question or hesitation. He had a generous and giving heart.

In 2010, Bob met Kemma Eikenberg in Colorado Springs through mutual friends. Little did they know they had multiple mutual friends across the state. Shortly after they started dating, Bob showed Kemma a picture of himself with his cool blue mohawk from “back-in-the-day.” Low and behold, their paths had crossed years prior without either of them realizing it until that moment. Small world indeed. Everyone that knew Bob well knew he never really was one to settle down, but to everyone’s surprise, including his own, he finally met the one who made him want to “tame” his gypsy ways.

After visiting Kiowa County a few times, Bob fell in love with the small-town atmosphere. In May 2011, he moved to Eads to settle down with his best friend and love of his life, Kemma. Here the couple would build their lives together, full of love, laughter, joy, and occasional disagreements. In January 2015, Bob asked Kemma for her hand in marriage. The couple then married April 23, 2016, in Haswell. Together they raised their many fur babies - Johnny, Jack, Softball, Jazmine, Patience, Jackson, Jolene, and Dog (the cat).

Bob’s favorite pastimes were fishing, hiking, camping, swimming, four-wheeling, tinkering, making art, and playing video games. Being outdoors and one with nature was his favorite, especially when it was snowing. He loved nature and nature loved him. These things were always a part of his adventurous personality.

Bob was a man of many trades: maintenance man, painter, repair man, electrician, clerk, cashier, assistant manager, general manager, and so much more! In 2018, Bob opened up Bob’s Small Engine Repair, later known as Uncle Bob’s Hobby Shop, which was a special part of him. It seemed there wasn’t anything he couldn’t do. And if he didn’t know how, he would keep working on it until he figured it out and excelled. He had an ingenious way of thinking that would enable a golf cart to reach speeds well above the average golf cart capability. He could be seen trailing the roads on it, looking out for others to ensure his community was doing well, pulling the children’s barrel train, and just being fun-loving Uncle Bob to many children in the community. Where there were needs, services to be given, or fun to be had, he was there! Bob also took many young men under his wing, and took pride in being a father figure to them while teaching them how to excel and enjoy life the way he did.

In January 2024, Bob chose to trust his life to Jesus, making Him his Lord and Savior. His faith grew stronger, even under the circumstances of his health. Through all the difficulties of his final journey, Bob desired prayer, worship music, scripture reading, and gathering with his family for comfort and encouragement for the hope of his future life. Even though he didn’t want to leave his loved ones, he had peace knowing that God had him no matter what. Bob’s genuine one-of-a-kind soul left this earth November 23, 2024, in the comfort of his home with his wife and fur babies by his side, just as he wanted it.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Elsa Alfano; uncle, Thomas Alfano; grandparents, Thomas and Maxine Alfano, and Emerson and Della Cooper.

He leaves behind his precious wife, Kemma Alfano and their fur babies, Jack and Jolene; aunts, Adelene Alfano and Lucille Gasecki of Picayune, Mississippi; aunt, Cleola Shey of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; siblings, Chanell (Garrin) Costa of Prairieville, Louisiana, Frank Alfano, Jr. of Gulfport, Mississippi, Laurie Kramer of Helena, Alabama, Mary (Brad) Key of Pinson, Alabama, and Andrew (Daniela) Alfano of Gulfport, Mississippi; in-laws, Karl (Sarah) Eikenberg of Haswell, Casey (Janneke) Eikenberg of Olney Springs, Colorado; and Krystal (Johnathan Koziol) Eikenberg of Eads; brothers-from-another-mother, James (Ashley) Brackeen of Detroit, Michigan and Shane (Susan) Bachman of Ouray; and all 25 of his nieces and nephews, who mean the world to him and Kemma: Jaden, Reona, Waylon, and Brody Eikenberg; Emilee, Haiden, and Jaxon Eikenberg; Garrin Jr., Callan, Erin, Luke, Micheal, Spencer, Timothy, Ethan, Joshua, Daniel, and Caleb Costa; Brannan, Ian, and Aeden Kramer; and Emmy, AJ, Mickey, and Jimmy Alfano. He also leaves behind a great deal of other family and friends and a legacy of love.
