Obituary - Norman Lee Olsen
In Norman’s words . . .
Norman Lee Olsen was born March 25, 1939, in Flagler. He went to school at Mount Pearl and Kit Carson High School.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents Sigurd and Evelyn Olsen; sisters, Helen Starkweather and Marilyn Longwell; and brother, Willie Olsen.
Norman attended college in La Junta for one year, and spent two years in the United States Army.
In his first marriage he had three children, Monte Olsen, Renee Hilgren, and Carolyn Kortmeyer.
Norman met Wanda Truax in February of 1983, and on June 25, 1983, they were married. Wanda had three children from a previous marriage, Paula Turner, Jerry Skaggs, and Tina Mason.
Norman retired from Farmland Foods in 1986.
Norman returned to Colorado in 1986 and worked for the Road and Bridge Department for Cheyenne County, retiring in 2003.
Norman passed away peacefully at his home in rural Cheyenne County November 10, 2024.
Norman and Wanda have 13 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held November 22, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Kit Carson. Burial will follow in the Kit Carson Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. November 21, 2024, at the Brown Funeral Home in Cheyenne Wells.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lincoln Community Home Health and Hospice in Hugo.
