Obituary - Selma Louise McCrary

Selma Louise McCrary 

May 13, 1939 – July 29, 2018 

Selma Louise McCrary was born to Grace and Lawrence Weisdorfer May 13, 1939, in the Prairie Queen Community. She was the second of four children. 

She married John Thomas Hoffman March 18, 1956, and had two children: LuAnne and John, Jr. (Tom) Hoffman. Louise did various part time jobs in her life – second to being a stay-at-home mom. 

In 1975, she received her GED. She loved to crochet, cook, bake, put puzzles together, and do ceramics. 

December 17, 1983, Louise married Marvin McCrary in Calhan. They spent early married life there and in North Carolina. Then returned to Eads to spend their remaining years. Louise died July 29, 2018, at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs. She was 79 years old. 

Louise is survived by her husband, Marvin McCrary; daughter, LuAnne (Gary) Kuchar; son, Tom (Lana) Hoffman; two grandsons: Brandon (Angla) Hoffman and Preston (Rachel) Hoffman; six great-grandchildren: Kindel, Caylen, Kara, Lexi, Evan, and Anna Hoffman; sister, Jean (Willard) Nordick; brothers: Larry (Ginney) Weisdorfer and Danny (Lois) Weisdorfer; and many nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Grace and Lawrence Weisdorfer; a brother and sister who died in infancy. 

No services will be held per her request. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Weisbrod Memorial County Hospital and Extended Care Unit activities department in Eads, where Louise enjoyed playing Bingo and working with flowers. 

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the car of the Brown Funeral Home in Eads. “Families you know and families you can trust – serving families like yours.”
