Ordway to be Recognized for Park and Playground Improvements
Residents of Ordway have even more reason to get out and play. The Town of Ordway will receive a Lottery Starburst Award for utilizing Lottery funds to give a major facelift to the city’s primary park and playground.
Lottery proceeds including $10,000 from the Conservation Trust Fund (CTF) and a $288,652 grant from Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) facilitated the upgrades to the Town of Ordway / Crowley County School District Park and Playground.
The Starburst Award will be presented at the Town Council meeting on Monday, September 26 at 6 pm.
Enhancements to the park were completed in January 2016. The project included removal of unsafe, aging playground equipment and installation of a multi-generational community hub for outdoor recreation. Improvements to the park - which has become a vital asset to the community - include a new outdoor turf field, new playground and fitness-themed equipment, safety surfacing, and accessible walkways.
The Colorado Lottery Starburst Awards recognize excellence in the use of Lottery proceeds in community projects implemented to enhance a community’s environment.
