15 Years Ago - November 6, 2009

  • At least more than 100 people showed up for the more mature haunted house, while many more also showed for the children’s themed Haunted House hosted by the Eads FBLA chapter.
  • East End Events- Sharon Scott: Did you know Sheridan Lake has a fishing pond? Stop by the “Hawks Nest” for directions.
  • As the West End Turns- Michelle Wyckoff: The Haunted Hotel at Wanda and Virgil’s had no vacancy on Halloween night.

25 Years Ago - November 5, 1999

  • At recent RE-2 Board meeting, Superintendent Janet Palmer said since the school doesn’t have full time custodial help, the coaching staff needs a master key to access supplies.

40 Years Ago - November 9, 1984

  • Government surplus cheese will be given out at Haswell, Brandon, Sheridan Lake, Towner. and Eads.
  • Since two very successful computer classes have nearly completed at Eads High School through Lamar Community College, there will be two more classes held in the second session.

50 Years Ago - November 8, 1974

  • The undersigned citizens, property owners, and ranchers of Baca, Bent, Kiowa, and Prowers Counties band together and advertise the offering of a reward of information leading to the arrest and convictions of anyone found guilty of stealing or vandalizing personal property of the undersigned or others.
  • President Gerald Ford signed legislation authorizing $2.3 million for reconstruction of Bent’s Old Fort.
