  • Restoration has begun on the building at 1301 Maine. This will be the future office home of Sand Creek National Historic Site.
  • East End Event- Sharon Scott: I’m sitting here waiting for the snow to begin, but starting to think they don’t always know what it’s going to do in eastern Colorado.

25 Years Ago - March 8, 2001

  • Work is nearing completion of the new addition to Eads High School. Grant funding from DOLA is covering $225,000 of the $285,000 construction cost.

40 Years Ago - March 7, 1986

  • Plainview girls took home first place in the Class A-II District V Basketball tournament.

50 Years Ago - March 51976

  • An agreement was imminent with a group from Colorado Springs, and perhaps Denver doctors, to provide seven days per week medical coverage at Weisbrod Memorial Hospital.
  • Kiowa County property owners will pay $100,000 more in property taxes in 1976 than in 1975.
  • A group of congressmen have brough suit to prevent the closing of any post office. If they win the suit, the Haswell postal facility will remain as it is.

75 Years Ago - February 16, 1951

  • High winds and dust hit the area. They were all uncalled for and should have been rain instead.

100 Years Ago - March 5, 1926
