Scholarship Applications Now Open at Lamar Community College
December 1 marked the official scholarship application opening date for Lamar Community College. Prospective or current LCC students who will be returning next year can now begin applying for scholarships for the 2017-2018 academic year.
A listing of available and upcoming scholarships can be found at www.lamarcc.edu/scholarships. Students can apply for multiple scholarships at one time by clicking on the apply online links. Associated external scholarships have links for additional information and application forms.
All students enrolled in Nurse Aide (CNA) and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) programs should apply for the Kaiser Permanente Scholarship. EMT students can also receive funding from Daniels Fund Boundless Opportunity Scholarships. The spring semester deadline for both scholarships is January 9.
The LCC Foundation is particularly proud of what it has accomplished with Colorado Opportunity Fund Scholarships. It plans to give over $200,000 in COSI and Quarterly Forum Scholarships to residents of Baca, Bent, Cheyenne, Kiowa, and Prowers Counties in 2016-2018 academic years.
Spring 2017 COSI Scholarships are still available for Baca, Bent, Cheyenne, and Kiowa County students. Incoming and current LCC students may also apply for fall/spring COSI and Quarterly Forum Scholarships for the 2017-2018 academic year. Quarterly Forum scholarships are for up to $5,000 per academic year.
“This may be the best time to be an LCC student,” commented Anne-Marie Crampton, LCC Foundation executive director. “We have so many scholarships and an online scholarship form that allows an individual to apply for several at a time. Combined with state and federal grants and work study, students and families can make an investment in their future with education with minimal use of loans.”
