SPAM Among Meat Products being Recalled by Hormel

Hormel Food Corp. is recalling 228,614 pounds of canned pork and chicken products that may contain pieces of metal.

Metal 12-ounce cans of SPAM Classic and Black Label Luncheon Loaf are subject to the recall.

The SPAM Classic product was shipped across the United States and has a “best by” date of February 2021. Cans will also have one of these productions codes

Black Label Luncheon Loaf was only shipped to Guam and has production codes F02098 or F02108.

Both products have establishment number “EST. 199N” printed on the bottom of the can. They were produced over three days in early February at the company’s Fremont, Nebraska, facility.

Hormel has received four complaints about metal in the meat products, with some people reporting minor mouth injuries.

The products should not be used and can be returned to the store where they were purchased.
