Spilled nails on Highway 285 near Morrison damage more than 50 vehicles

A semi-truck spilled multiple boxes of nails and screws onto westbound Highway 285 near milepost 247 at the Morrison Exit this week, damaging the tires of more than 50 vehicles.

Colorado State Patrol troopers stopped the semi-truck and made contact with the driver, who fully cooperated with the investigation. Five other vehicles with damaged tires remained at the scene. By the time of this release, troopers had fielded calls from more than 50 affected drivers.

The driver has not been charged at the time of this release. Impacted drivers were provided with the semi-truck company's insurance information to file a claim.

The Colorado Department of Transportation responded and cleared the nails and screws from the roadway.
