Storms possible Friday night in Cheyenne County as weekend heat nears 100 in Cheyenne Wells

A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms arrives Friday night, mainly before 11 p.m., under mostly cloudy skies with a low around 59.
“Hot, dry and windy over the weekend with fire weather concerns,” a meteorologist with the National Weather Service forecast office in Goodland, Kan., wrote in Thursday's Area Forecast Discussion. The forecaster noted that recent rainfall has caused some green-up that has lowered the overall fire hazard, but cautioned that increased fire danger could still make any fires problematic.
