Suspected stolen vehicle causes head-on crash near Denver
Shortly before 6:30 p.m. Saturday, the Colorado State Patrol responded to an injury crash near the intersection of South Cherry Street and South Leetsdale Drive. The crash occurred as the Aurora Police Department was pursuing a suspected stolen vehicle.
While being pursued, a 2000 Dodge Ram first crashed into another vehicle at East Florida Avenue and South Willow Street in Denver. There were no injuries from this crash. The suspect continued onto northbound Parker Road. When the hood of the Dodge Ram flew up due to damage sustained in the first crash, it blocked the driver’s view, causing the Ram to go into the southbound lanes, where a head-on crash occurred at South Cherry Street and South Leetsdale Drive.
The suspect vehicle collided with a Nissan Leaf, sending four passengers to the hospital. The driver of the Nissan Leaf is suspected of having serious bodily injuries. The driver of the suspected stolen vehicle was taken into custody and transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
This crash is currently under investigation by the Colorado State Patrol Vehicular Crimes Unit.
