Undergraduate students in Texas will have the opportunity next month to apply to public colleges and universities for free.
Free College Application Week will be held from October 13 through the 19.
Glenna Bruun, associate commissioner of public affairs with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, said undergraduate and transfer students can apply without application fees to an unlimited number of schools at mytexasfuture.org.

"It will show them all of the information about Free Application Week," said Bruun. "It also talks about My Texas Future, which is a program that we have that can help students decide what they want to do when they graduate, what colleges they’re looking at, scholarship programs."
Thirty-seven universities and 50 community colleges are participating. Students will need information about extracurricular or volunteer activities, test scores and any previous college credits to apply.
College application fees can range from $50 to $75. Bruun said 550,000 students were enrolled in Texas colleges and universities in 2024 and they hope this initiative helps more students achieve their dreams.
She added that the website is also a good source of information for high school juniors and seniors.
"It is one way to have all the information at your fingertips where students can really learn what is out there ahead of them," said Bruun. "And how to create a path to a productive career."
Free College Application Week was approved by the Texas legislature and will be held annually during the second week of October.
