A public hearing will be conducted for informing citizens and soliciting public input, written or oral, regarding the Town of Cheyenne Wells Source Water Improvements Project Needs Assessment (PNA). The PNA is a report detailing the project as proposed, including project necessity, alternatives, and components. The PNA also describes how the project is being funded. The reports have been submitted to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) to qualify the Town of Cheyenne Wells for a State Revolving Fund Loan.
The project consists of two facilities: the Feyh Water Treatment Plant and the North Snyder Water Treatment Plant.
- Feyh Water Treatment Plant Improvements The Feyh Water Treatment Plant will be expanded to improve drinking water quality. New treatment equipment will remove nitrates from a portion of the water supply, which will then be blended with untreated water to meet state drinking water standards. The upgraded facility will continue to disinfect water to ensure it is safe for distribution and will use existing backup power for reliability. The estimated cost for the Feyh WTP is $3,040,000.00.
- North Snyder Water Treatment Plant Improvements A new treatment facility is proposed to treat water from the North and Snyder wells. The plant will remove excess nitrates and disinfect the water so it meets state drinking water requirements. The project will use existing infrastructure where possible, including backup power, to provide a reliable and compliant drinking water supply. The estimated cost for the North Snyder WTP is $2,984,573.00.
The total estimated cost is $6,024,573.00.
